We wanted to provide users with a more engaging and curated view of collections content at Storyblocks, responding to insights gleaned from user interviews and surveys. The redesign aimed to address users' needs for discovering new, curated, and trending content, as well as showcasing featured artists and hand-picked selections.
We began the redesign effort by conducting interviews, launching surveys, and examining data to gain insights into user behaviors, preferences, and pain points when navigating the Video and Audio collections. The research indicated a strong desire for curated content, trending items, and a clearer path to discovering new media.
I then engaged the team in brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for the new landing pages. Our current ones were out of date and offered no sort of content curation. We explored concepts that would offer users a more tailored and enjoyable browsing experience while showcasing featured artists and hand-picked content.
I then created wireframes to outline the structure and content placement for the redesigned landing pages, considering clear calls-to-action and prioritizing featured content and curated collections.
The visual design phase involved creating a cohesive and visually appealing interface. It was essential to strike a balance between Storyblocks' brand guidelines and the desire for a fresh, curated look. Elements like color schemes, typography, and imagery were carefully chosen to convey the desired message.
Interactive prototypes were developed to simulate the user experience on the redesigned landing pages. We conducted user testing sessions to gather feedback and validate the effectiveness of the new design. This iterative process allowed us to refine the layout and address any usability issues.
The redesigned Collections Landing Pages incorporated several key features:
We introduced themed collections that showcased hand-picked content relevant to user interests, such as trending topics, seasonal themes, and industry-specific selections.
A prominently displayed section highlighted trending media, allowing users to stay up-to-date with popular assets.
Recognizing the importance of artists within the Storyblocks creative community, we included a section to spotlight and celebrate featured artists, providing exposure and recognition.
We restructured the navigation to simplify content discovery, making it easier for users to find and explore new assets.
The redesign of Storyblocks' Video and Audio Collections Landing Pages addressed user needs and preferences. By leveraging insights from user interviews, surveys, and data, we created an experience that not only met but exceeded user expectations. The incorporation of curated collections, trending content, and featured artists not only improved content discovery but also fostered a sense of community and engagement within the platform. As a result of this initiative, we saw a 16% increase in engagement with the Video and Audio collections landing pages when A/B testing these new concepts.
The project showcased the power of user-centered design principles in creating a more engaging and satisfying user experience. The iterative design process, including user testing, ensured that the final product met both user and business objectives, resulting in visually appealing, intuitive, and highly effective landing pages for Storyblocks' collections.
